RAW & SWEATY – LIVE IN FRANCE

Après avoir avalé des miles, de l’est à l’ouest de l’Atlantique, du Cabaret Frappé de Grenoble au Jazz à Vienne et du Festival international de Jazz de Montréal au Festivoix de Trois-Rivières, notamment, pour cracher non sans élégance à la face du monde le raw blues brut et franc de This Kind Of Life — son deuxième long jeu, paru en novembre 2013 — l’inextinguible They Call Me Rico revient à la charge avec le bien nommé Raw & Sweaty : Live in France, un tout premier live à voir le jour le 14 janvier prochain.

Immortalisant quelques mémorables prestations du One Man Band en sol français, entre autres sur la magistrale scène du Théâtre Antique de Vienne dans le cadre du réputé Jazz à Vienne, le 11 pistes révèle la bête au sommet de son art, interprétant, devant des foules diverses, tantôt petites, parfois colossales, les titres de ses deux précédents efforts — They Call Me Rico (2011, Voxtone Records), This Kind Of Life (2013, Voxtone Records) , voire quelques inédites, dont Tiger Man, popularisée par Elvis à l’occasion de son fameux comeback de 68, de même que Linin’ Track que chantait avec son typique « grunt » l’immortel Leadbelly.

Disponible en téléchargement gratuit dès le 14 janvier via Bandcamp et Soundcloud, Raw & Sweaty : Live in France devrait marquer le début d’une année plus que faste pour They Call Me Rico. Le Trifluvien d’origine, qui écoule désormais le plus clair de son temps en Europe, prendra en effet part à de nombreux événements en France dans les mois à venir, où il se produira notamment en ouverture des grands Paul Personne et Lucky Peterson, et ce, en plus de peaufiner un troisième album studio, à voir le jour fin 2015.

RAW & SWEATY – LIVE IN FRANCE

They Call Me Rico continues to spit out the fiery and unforgiving raw blues from his second album This Kind of Life, criss-crossing the Atlantic from east to west from Cabaret Frappé in Grenoble and Jazz à Vienne to the Montreal International Jazz Festival and Festivoix Trois-Rivières. Virtually unstoppable, They Call Me Rico returns to the scene of the crime with an aptly named album Raw & Sweaty – Live in France, his first live offering to be released January 13.

The album captures some memorable one-man band performances on French soil, including some recorded at the magnificent Théâtre Antique in Vienna during the renowned Jazz à Vienna festival. The beast is at the top of his game on this live album, performing for audiences of all sizes. The album includes 11 tracks, including songs taken from his first two albums They Call Me Rico (Voxtone Records 2011) and This Kind of Life (Voxtone Records 2013), as well some new songs, including Tiger Man, popularized by Elvis during his famous 1968 comeback and Linin’ Track, a traditional number that Rico sings with Leadbelly’s famous grunt vocal sound.

Raw & Sweaty – Live in France will be available for free download on January 13 from Bandcamp and SoundCloud, marking the beginning of a very busy year for They Call Me Rico. Originally from Trois-Rivières, he now spends most of his time in Europe, where he will be taking part in many events in France in the coming months, including shows opening for Paul Personne and Lucky Peterson. When he isn’t performing, They Call Me Rico will be putting the finishing touches on a third album to be released at the end of 2015.
